Judgement: Not Recommended

View review on Steam

It is quite unique blend between visual novel and deck-builder, and its way better at the visual novel part, than the deck building part. I like it, but it is way too frustrating at times to recommend.

If you are here for the visual novel RECOMMENDED
If you are here for the deckbuilder NOT RECOMMENDED

PROS
+ nice artstyle
+ good music
+ good story
+ good gameplay (if you have a build that can ignore all the BS from later enemies)

CONS
- boring gameplay (if you have a build that can ignore all the BS from later enemies)
- frustrting gameplay (if you DONT have a build that can ignore all the BS from later enemies)

- UI fights aganist you, it dosnt provide all required information, some UI elements overlap each other, it is easy to musclick/misselect cards with no confirmation, controlls are not consistent (sometimes ESC closes a window, sometimes you have to click specific "back" button), etc ... alot of smaller things that add up

- Tutorials dont trigger when they should, they are staticly placed in specific places of the game, so often you get tutorial message for something you were using 1/2 of the game already. For example: bossess and strong enemies have mechanics that are only explained later in the game when they show up on normal enemies, player mechanics that you can obtain from accessories are only explained when you play a character that is associated with said mechanic, etc..

- Cards (skills) are generarly unbalanced (many cards are just too weak to ever use), card upgrades are often weak stat boosts, conditional boosts (while having charge, while having X combo, etc) are also just weak stat boosts, there are no side-grade upgrades or new mechanics added to upgraded cards, overall the cards (skills) are mostly quite boring

- Extreme difficulty spikes between chapters, that chage the game in chapter 2-3 from a nice little poker-deckbuilder game into a chore anoing BS - you get new and mostly useless cards that just dilude the pool of skills making it harder to get the ones you want, there is no system to ban/skip/exchange/sell cards, on top of that enemies get very annoying abilities and debuffs that make the game very frustrating where you either have to build reactionary builds (which is the thing that all the useless cards seem to be for), or wait out the debuffs while spamming defenses, or simply make big hand oneshoting build and use that for the whole game.

- Why all characters cant use all poker hands?? why knight cannot use "Four of a Kind" or "Mini Straight" etc?
