Wanted to love it, but man, what an astonishingly boring game. Gameplay consists of killing everyone on your path and finding colorful keys to unlock next arena. Damn, I feel like I will see those pink and red keys in my dreams, that’s how madly repeatable that process is. Difficulty spike after second level is insane, you breeze through first two levels and then this game just starts taking the piss. Ton of enemies surrounding you, finding ammo or even decent enough guns is a challenge and your boltgun is barely damaging those bullet sponges. Also enemy-wise game very repetitive and best you can hope is getting bosses as regular enemies later on (oh, how I hated all those battles with Lord of Change and giant frogs). What about plot of the game? Well, this game has none, I wouldn’t call three 15 seconds pixel cinematics a story. Presentation is okay, retro graphics looks fine. Music is absolutely forgettable, though. There is also horde mode here but i was too bored after campaign to try it. Overall, just a disappointment of a game.
