It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences. - Audre Lorde

🟩 Pros
🟥 Cons

• Beautiful soundtracks.
• Voice actors are doing a great job at portraying the characters.
• Amazing story with an interesting setting.

• Requires at all time a controller.
• Despite having a controller, aiming and gameplay in this game is rather unpleasant.
• The game has some serious technical issues where my save data got corrupted and I had to restart a 6 hours playthrough all over again.
• Interface is hard to understand and objectives are complicated to follow up. Puzzles aren't difficult, but you don't understand well your objectives as the UI isn’t very helpful.

🌌 Content & Replay Value
According to How long to Beat, this game requires 6 to 12 hours to complete. I can say this game is not very long, but if you explore every nook and cranny you can spend up to 12 hours to get everything. Because my game got a corrupted save I had to retake 6 hours of gameplay. Once you finish the story and game isn't worth going back as the story is rather linear and straightforward.
💵 Is it worth buying?
No. Despite the fact that at first, I can say that the story is the kicker here, I don't think it's a great game on the gameplay aspect which I'll explain along the way. Without a controller this game is unplayable. Yes, if you plan to play it on your Steam Deck.
🎮 Steam Deck Compatibility
Although this game is unsupported, I managed to play this game without a problem on my Steam Deck and if you plan to pick it up because of that that's great. Runs great and has no issues on the performance level.
🧾 Verdict: Mediocre
Rating Chart Here
Although I have tried to give this game a chance and enjoy it. I think the story is really good, the technical issues and the fact that the game requires a controller for a PC user is the very reason why this game hasn't gotten enough love. I really think the story and the voice acting was great, but not enough for me to give it a pass.

Divide is a character-driven, science fiction action/adventure game with a modern take on isometric adventures of the past. In this game you have to search for clues that reveal new insights into the story, interact with fully realized characters, and combat enemies by hacking out of sight, or launching a direct assault.

⚔ Gameplay:
Rate: ★★☆☆☆

At its core is a point and click action-adventure game. The gameplay revolving this game is rather simple: Interact with objects, hack or extract intel by simply clicking and in some cases defend yourself by aiming and shooting at enemies like robot sentinels or guards. It involves a lot of backtracking and figuring out how to solve areas without much indication or hinting

Aside from hacking, you also have simple combat where you use a special taser gun to take down robots or guards.

😄 Fun:
Rate: ★★☆☆☆

Despite the interesting story and the captivating characters, the gameplay has left me wanting some more. Aiming and shooting is very difficult and often times I’d end up dying because I can’t aim fast enough. Having to run out of combat when things get difficult is rather unpleasant.

Second issue with this game in regards to my fun with it is the fact that the game has had 2 times save file corrupted issues with me. I don’t know what was causing it, but I’ve noticed it happening while trying to switch between PC and Steam Deck. I’m not 100% sure that’s the case, but be aware about that. If you want to finish this game as I did, you have to consider having a full playthrough otherwise you’ll end up like me wasting several hours of gameplay and having to repeat the game again from scratch. That’s not a fun experience.

🏞 Visuals:
Rate: ★★★☆☆

Visually this game looks pretty nice in the gameplay area. I really like how it looks, but fails to impress me when it comes to areas where you switch from Isometric to a 2D style or something of a sort. I feel that it fails to have a consistency in that area.

Second, the characters have no animation and that’s fine, but often times they pose in ridiculous poses that it’s difficult not to laugh when you see the faces they pull off.

🔊 Sound:
Rate: ★★★★★

I think the game does an excellent job with music and sound effect. It feels really polished in this area and voice actors performed really well, portraying the characters well and telling the story well enough to keep me interested.

📖 Story:
Rate: ★★★★★

Divide dives into an interesting sci-fi story where you play as David, a father in his late 30s, maybe early 40s who’s looking after his daughter while his wife mysteriously died in a laboratory experiment.

The game start where you receive a strange case from your friend, that contains special lenses that allows you to see and interact with the world as well an strange orb that activates and teleports you into a strange futuristic place that have to figure out what is going on and how you can return back home.

🧵 Length:

☑️ Short
☑️ Average
🔲 Long
🔲 Unlimited

This game takes between 6 hours to 12 to complete if you want to achieve full completion.

🧩 Difficulty:

🔲 Easy
☑️ Normal
🔲 Hard
🔲 Brutally Hard
🔲 Impossible

I’ve not had much struggle with this game over the fact that aiming with a controller takes time getting used to and even then it can be rather clunky. Enemy AI is rather dumb in some cases intentionally so you can avoid conflict and just run through enemy sometimes freely without taking damage. If you do happen to take damage, your health recovers quickly to 100% once you’re out of combat, so you can go again in the enemy sight and try to eliminate them.

It can get a bit difficult when there’s waves of soldiers coming at your way, but if you position yourself right you should be alright.

⭕Conclusion:
Divide is an interesting console port, with an amazing soundtrack and captivating story, but horribly fails in the technical area and repetitive and boring gameplay. Backtracking isn’t done very well to keep the whole gameplay exciting and often times repetition can kill quickly your joy to want to finish it. Never the less, the story might be the only thing that will keep you until the end.
