GRIP: Combat Racing is a high speed racing game with combat power ups.

The racing is chaotic in a good way. There's driving on the walls and ceiling. Flipping your car upside down isn't a big deal since you can keep on driving. Landing on 2 wheels to keep driving until you recover. Crazy level design where at one moment you are driving on the floor, next on the ceiling or a side wall or going inside a tube. And if that wasn't enough, you have power ups that can speed you up or disrupt the other racers. You get to enjoy all of this to drum and bass music.

There are 2 types of progression. One is the 11 tier campaign that unlocks power ups and the ability to charge them (after completing tier 7). The other type is general experience and levels that grant access to other cars and customization like decals and wheels. A hyper speed option can be unlocked and toggled after you hit Mach 1 once in any race.

Each car comes in 2 variations, ground that have better handling and air that have better speed. To suit any playstyle, there's a selection of 30 cars with different stats for handling (grip) or top speed. With high speed and crazy turns I found the cars with the highest grip to be the best. Mirage was my choice.

Other than the classic races, you can have a pure race with only you and the speed power up or arena deathmatch where the goal is to inflict damage or blow other racers. The bots will give you a challenge at the races while you may find them underwheling in the arena deathmatch. The campaign does a good job at mixing them for good variety with a 1v1 duel at the end of the tiers (starting from tier 3). For the challenge seekers there's a carkour (car parkour) course that includes trick jumps or endurance tracks.

While you can learn the boost and power up placements to get a better lap time, there's always an RNG element with which power up you get and sometimes a well timed rocket can steal your victory.

For achievement hunters:
The hardest are the carkour courses, then the campaign. There's a grind for total laps and destroying opponents.
