Judgement: Not Recommended

  • Morlan's shorts:
A generic overhead-ish shooter, with low-res graphics and very loud music for which, irksomely enough, there's no volume slider. Run around trying to survive the given countdown. That's it.. No other levels, no other baddies, no bosses. It's way too difficult as enemies swarm all around you almost as fast as you can run, fire-frequency is quite low, there's no auto-fire but for one character, the sword mechanism gizmo becomes tiresome quickly and there's not even a PAUSE button to scratch your.. belly.
I can't see the appeal of this game.. It looks ugly, not retro, maybe it's the rush of the music?.. The gameplay is too simple yet frantic but too frustrating. And there's 6-7 of these games..all pretty much the same/similar gameplay and practically same graphics/music. It's a case where dedicated fans are ecstatic but everyone else wonders why..

There's certainly an audience for this game but I think it's quite limited. (Or they haven't played other similarliy action-oriented games and there's plenty of these around)

PS. For a proper "retro" and "cult-classic" game, checkout "Robotron 2084" videos. It was done over 35 years ago, has a certain similarity in gameplay, it's very difficult but fair, frantic but not frustrating.. But it just is more fun to play..

EDIT: Re-worded a bit. Less references..

Don't waste more time reading lengthy reviews.. time is of the essence!
